Duties and Responsibilities 

Nikhil Iyengar, Team Captain and Engine Design Lead

Responsible for the development of the SolidWorks files for all engine prototypes, including the final pneumatic engine and alternative designs, such as the Sterling Engine. Interpreted and modified previous blueprints with an emphasis on design for manufacturability. Machined the engine cylinder, shaft, body, and engine cam for the final engine. Designed the electronics for human interface with the project and coded the algorithms in Arduino.

TaeKyoung Lee, Engine Design 

Responsible for modifying and editing the CAD files of different iterations of engines throughout the project. Evaluated design manufacturability using rapid prototyping and 3D printing. Machined the base, body, engine cam, shaft, and fly wheel.

Yingfu (Ben) Ma, Gear Systems Lead

Designed the gear system. Responsible for the development of the Solidworks files of all gear systems created. This includes planetary gears, carrier, differential gears, arms and the final assembly file. Designed the mounting for the gear system.

 

Yen-Chia (Amy) Feng, Aesthetics Design, Gear Systems

Responsible for the machinning part of the gear system, including shafts, press-fitting and base of the hand scanner box. Designed and constructed the hand scanner. Responsible for the aesthetic aspect of the project. 

 

Anish Maladi, Gear Systems

Responsible for modifying the AutoCAD files exported form Solidworks. Helped design and construct the gear system.
